Blog Day 2

I really enjoyed today's class because I can see the practicality of using Titanpad and the Google Doc's collaboration tools.  I have been quite hesitant about using word documents with my students since I am a Language Arts teacher.  I tell my classes that they can not type their assignments because I want to see how they write, meaning that I evaluate their spelling and sentence structure.  When they use Word, the spell check etc can change their mistakes and I feel that they don't learn much by quickly clicking the right side of the mouse to make changes. I like the Titan pad site because they can save all their drafts and I can evaluate all their different revisions and their progression.  I also use peer editing so this would be wonderful for this objective.  I believe that I will use this site in the future with my classes.
I also enjoyed doing the collaboration in Google Doc, because as you said in class, there are always kids sitting by and doing very little work.  By using this site, each kid can produce something since they can all work simultaneously.  I believe this site helps kids be more accountable for the work that they produce.
I use Skype quite often since my little nephew lives in Edmonton, and this give us some face time when we are appart.  Also, my mom lives in Phoeniz, Arizona in the winter months so we often meet on Skype at night to talk about our day.
Thanks for the great resource sites :)
