Today we discussed VC and Jean told us of various VC sites that were free and useful. We also discussed sites such as Banfield, a college in Montreal and the Met museum that offer VC experiences for students. We discussed 2Learn which is an organization that gives out grants and support for schools and teachers.
After our discussion we all joined an Elluminate session. We watched a Microsoft Live Lab Pivot video as a group and we were shown how to use the different functions. We were shown how to be placed into group and how to work collaborately within them. We also we shown how to use the web applications to Google translate. This is a great function for second language teachers to use with their classes. It always interaction and the teacher can see who is contributing what. Elluminate seems like a great tool to use for education purpose if students and teachers are not all in the same location. I liked how the session can be recorded and played at a later date for anyone who may have missed the information given.
Elluminate seems like a great way to unite people around the world so that they can share their information and expertise. I believe that soon, sites like Elluminnate will become the norm in education.
